Meth Test
Standard testing protocol suggests three to four separate swabs be taken from the subject home. Common swab locations within the home include 1) bottom of furnace cabinet or inside of furnace cabinet door, 2) side wall of master bathroom, 3) wall above oven / range and exterior of return air grille, and 4) outside garage door surface.
The state recognizes levels below 1.0 micrograms of meth per 100 cm of surface area to be safe and not meriting decontamination. Homes which are deemed to have levels which are more than 1.0 micrograms of meth per 100 cm of surface area should be retested by a state-certified decontamination specialist. State of Utah requires homes which have been identified as having more than 1.0 micrograms of meth per 100 cm of surface area to be decontaminated according to local ordinances specific to the jurisdiction.
